BREAKING: Arjun Rampal, Priyanka Boses Next Phulmani -Story, Character DETAILS Inside

There have been a lot of good cinema but cinema purely based on literature is barely to be seen nowadays. Well this trend is about to change with Phulmani. This film would be based on a Bengali novel ‘Phulmani Upakhyaan’ by one of the most celebrated authors of Bengal Sunil Gangopadhyay. The film will be directed by Bengali filmmaker Sourav Chakroborty.

There has been a surge of good content driven films and at the same time the dearth of literature backed films are on the wane. With this film, Bollywood would also have no complaints about that.

According to a close source, “With a stellar cast and a mind-blowing crew, this film is sure to make heads turn. The Cast would include Arjun Rampal with Priyanka Bose as Phulmani.”

It is worth mentioning here that Priyanka who started her career with Love Sex or Dhokha and went on to be part of films like Sorry Bhai, Johnny Gaddar and Guzaarish finally gained recognition with her power packed performance in the role of a tribal woman in the film Gangor by Italian filmmaker Italo Spinelli in 2010. Co-incidentally, this film too was adapted from a short story “Choli Ke Peeche” by the acclaimed Bengali writer Maheshweta Devi. Bose went on to bag the award of the Best actress for this one at the new Jersey Independent South Asian Film Festival.

A film is nothing without intriguing characters, therefore all the actors in the film have a carefully carved out and equally meaty role. “Arjun Rampal will be playing the character of Chandan, a family man who is a passionate art lover and a celebrated construction company manager at the same time.”

The source further revealed, “The cast members also include Neeraj Kabi who will be playing the character of an eccentric sculptor Anindya who in his late 40s is in search of something new.

“Victor Bannerjee will be playing Siraj-Ul-Tariq a majestic personality who is an artist in the truest sense of the word.

“Akshay Oberoi will be playing Neel, a young guy who is a poet at heart.”

Shedding some light on the story, the source revealed, “The story would revolve around this tribal woman called Phulmani and her expertise in painting and also her struggles to be a part of the mainstream society. It would also focus on the preordained prejudices of the higher class against the lower-class people. Neel (Akshay Oberoi) will be the first to spot Phulmoni’s (Priyanka Bose) paintings; completely moved by them, he will be showing them to Anindya who will then show the paintings to some renowned painters in the city but no one will pay much heed with the exception of Siraj (Victor Bannerjee) who will also help Anindya showcase Phulmoni’s paintings in an upcoming painting exhibition.”

Cinematography is the most vital part of the film, “It is to be mentioned that Emmy award nominated cinematographer and Richard Lopez has been rope in to do the cinematography of the film. With him in the picture, we are the sure that the audiences will be in for a visual treat. Lopez has also directed and produced series for Amazon and Netflix as well. He has also lensed concerts for Alicia Keys, Norah Jones, Mariah Carey, Harry Cornick Jr., The Jonas Brothers so on and so forth.” Revealed the source!

The sound will be done by the Academy award winning sound designer Resul Pookutty. The art Direction for the film will be given by Boishali Sinha who had earlier done the art direction for the critically acclaimed film Halkaa. The film was also in the running for Oscars this year from India. The music of the film will be composed by the celebrated Bengali musician Bikram Ghosh.

With such amazing talents on board, Phulmani is sure to be a visually stunning film and a cinema that is ought to make its mark in Bollywood. The film will be produced by Nilanjan Maitra.
