For Kangana Ranaut, it seems like the year of troubles. The Manikarnika actress who joined Twitter earlier this year is continuously attracting trouble for expressing her bold views on the social media platform. After her tweets in the Sushant Singh Rajput case led to her scuffle with Shiv Sena’s Sanjay Raut now her tweet on the farmers’ bill has attracted a case against her.

The case has been registered against Kangana in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district for allegedly referring to farmers as terrorists in her tweet. It was after a complaint of advocate L Ramesh Naik that the local Judicial Magistrate First Class court directed the police to register a case.

The police has filed the case under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections, including 108 (abetment), wanton vilification upon a community (153A) and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace (504).

The tweet in question is one from September 21 where the actress wrote in Hindi: “People who spread misinformation and rumours about CAA that caused riots are the same people who are now spreading misinformation about farmers bill and causing terror in the nation, they are terrorists. You very well know what I said but simply like to spread misinformation.”

Mr. Naik while speaking to IANS explained his stand and said, "My case against popular Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut is not to gain any publicity but to convey to her that what she did was wrong. When farmers take to the streets to protest against any government policy, they are not necessarily terrorists, as she thinks. I have joined many such protests, am I a terrorist? I need clarification on this and therefore I am fighting this case."

The actress is yet to comment on the matter.
