Censors Will Favour You If You Handle Content Responsibly - Veere Di Wedding Director Shashanka

Shashanka Ghosh who has just finished directing a cutting-edge web series ‘Hey Prabhu’ for the new OTT MX Player has interesting insights to share on his experiences in directing slice of life dramas, right from Veere Di Wedding- a magnum box office entertainer to Hey Prabhu, a digital web series for millennials.

The director has earned great repute for bringing authenticity and remaining true to the soul of a story. On being asked what his take is on surviving censors and making a point, Ghosh said “I feel that when your intent is to tell a story and the censorable acts are not just to sensationalize, then censors will side with you - if you have chosen to handle it responsibly”

After seeing huge success in VDW and now waiting for his upcoming project ‘Hey Prabhu’ to launch, Ghosh commented on making relatable stories for present day audiences. He said “My recent project (Hey Prabhu), follows a guy who has seen massive digital success along with some serious and timeless analogue problems. So yes, I feel the series will have a lot of people saying ' yeah, that's what happens in my life'

The complete collaboration between an actor and director, with both parties realizing tricky yet required treatment of scenes is the recipe to treat a scene right according to Ghosh. He doesn’t subscribe to the treatment of a scene being a one person’s headache- be it the actor or director.

His mantra of tackling sensitive scenes on screen is simple- ‘sensitivity’ he answers in one word.
