Chanda Mama Door Ke To Be Revived As A Tribute To Sushant Singh Rajput; Director Sanjay Says ‘I Owe This To Him’

A few years ago it was reported that superstar Sushant Singh Rajput underwent special training at the NASA’s (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) space and rocket center for his film Chanda Mama Door Ke. Sadly the project, which would have featured the late actor as an astronaut, never took off. Now almost 7 months after Sushant bid the world a final adieu, his friend and filmmaker Sanjay Puran Singh has decided to revive the film as a tribute to the bright star.

In a report shared by Mid Day, Sanjay was quoted saying, “The film is not shelved. I hope I will be able to translate on screen what I have visualised in my head and put on paper. That said, I am not reviving it right away as it has not been even a year to Sushant's passing; his loss has been emotionally exhausting.” He went on to add, “Whenever I make the film, it will be a tribute to Sushant. He was so attached to the script that I owe this to him. He had given a lot of inputs to the [material].”

However, it will be heartbreaking for the filmmaker, and Sushant’s fans, to see another actor as the protagonist. Talking about the same, Sanjay shared, “I can't think of a replacement for Sushant. Many suggested that I turn it into a web series, but I want to retain it as a film. It is meant for the big screen.”

Maybe fans will see the film the way Sanjay is making it-- a tribute to superstar Sushant.
