Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui: Vaani Kapoor To Play A Transgender In The Abhishek Kapoor Film?

It was just a few days back that Abhishek Kapoor's next, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor, got its title. Called Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, it would be set in Chandigarh where the team is currently shooting. A lot has been spoken about Ayushmann Khurrana's character but we have little knowledge about what Vaani Kapoor would play in the film. Now, we finally have some answer it seems.

If a report by Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, then Vaani would take up a challenge in the film by playing a queer character. It is being said that she would portray the role of a transgender in Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui. The love-story would then be hatke, since it would show Ayushmann's character being intensely in love with Vaani's character. When the publication reached out to the actress to get confirmation, she said, “I will speak to you later.”

Ayushmann Khurrana would be playing a cross-functional athlete in the film and he has been preparing for his physical transformation for quite some time now. Earlier, speaking about director Abhishek Kapoor, Vaani had said, "Abhishek Kapoor is a master when it comes to capturing human emotions. He has done it brilliantly in films like 'Rock On!!', ‘Kai Po Che', and ‘Kedarnath' among others. His prowess in dissecting the finer nuances of relationships is what fascinated me about his filmmaking."
