Chehre: Amitabh Bachchan, Emraan Hashmi Starrer Pushed Indefinitely Amid Rising Covid-19 Cases In The Country

With Covid-19 cases mounting on once again in the country, the business of Bollywood has taken a hit leading to films getting postponed once again. The makers of Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi starrer Chehre are the latest in a slew to postpone the release of their film.

Chehre was announced to release on April 9 but after Holi makers of the thriller have issued a statement announcing their plan to bring the project to theatres at a later date. With films running in theatres already suffering at the box office and few big states seeing a big rise in Covid-19 cases, postponing films is the most risk free way to go for filmmakers. It is not however, the best news for cinema owners.

In a statement, Chehre makers inform, “Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 and new guidelines for cinemas, we are unable to release our movie Chehre on 9th April and have decided to postpone until further notice. We have received an overwhelming response on our trailer and we are grateful for all the love and support. We have decided to bring Chehre to audiences theatrically when the environment is more conducive for the experience.”

Under new guidelines in Maharashtra where the rise of Covid cases is rampant, theatres are under threat of being shut down if they are found flouting rules, while in Delhi cinemas have been classified as super spreaders amid rising cases.

Apart from Emraan and Amitabh, Chehre also stars Siddhanth Kapoor, Rhea Chakraborty, Krystle Dsouza, Annu Kapoor and Raghubir Yadav. The film has been helmed by Rumi Jafry and produced by Anand Pandit.
