Chehre director Rumi Jaffery is ready to revive Sushant Singh Rajput and Rhea Chakraborty’s romantic comedy

Last year during an interview, actress Rhea Chakraborty had revealed that late actor and her boyfriend Sushant Singh Rajput used to drop her and often visit her at Film City, where she was shooting for Rumi Jaffery’s film Chehre. The filmmaker and the actor got acquainted and even planned to get together for a romantic comedy which was meant to go on floors in May. However, the pandemic and subsequent lockdown ruined their plans and the project never took off. Well, Rumi is now ready to revive the film.

In a recent chat with ETimes, the filmmaker was quoted saying, “Now that Chehre is out there, I found the opportunity to pull out the script I wrote for Sushant and I read it. Now I have to decide with whom to make the film and when to make it. You know, each time I looked at the script it reminded me of Sushant, so I used to put it back on the shelf. It has been over a year now and it was his favourite script, so I will surely make it.”

The romantic comedy would have marked Sushant and Rhea’s first film together. The actress recently made a comeback of sorts on the big screen with Rumi’s Chehre, which features Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in the lead. Talking about Rhea, the filmmaker stated that the court will decide her fate and we are no one to pass judgment on her. He added, “Besides, we are now seeing a change in the public perception and I am sure it is God’s will too.”

In an interview before Chehre’s release, Rumi had shared that whenever he opened the script of the rom com, he could only visualize Sushant and that bothered him. It will definitely be a difficult project to put together because of the emotions attached. We wish him good luck!
