    This Friday is a big day for Deepika Padukone who is returning the big screen after nearly two years as her film Chhapaak releases in theatres. The film is Deepika’s debut as a Bollywood producer and is one project really close to her heart. Directed by Meghna Gulzar the actress will bring to life the story of acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal on screen.


    Deepika started the day on an auspicious note paying a visit to the famous Siddhi Vinayak temple in Mumbai. The Padmaavat actress looked ethereal dressed in an off white salwar kurta, with her hair tied up and minimal make up. The look was complete with her million dollar smile as she posed for the paparazzi.


    Ever since the trailer of Chhapaak dropped in, the film has been receiving praises from all corners for binging to life a story based on a horrific crime that turned the lives of its victims around. The film unlike movies on social issues doesn’t take a melancholic tone but instead is a story of hope, finding happiness again and the never give up attitude.

    A special screening of the film was held in Mumbai was held on Wednesday where Bollywood celebrities turned up to support the movie. Deepika’s husband and actor Ranveer Singh and their entire family was in attendance including celebrities like Rekha, Javed Akhtar, Anurag Kashyap, Bhumi Pednekar, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Kabir Khan, and others.

    Ranveer also shared a long note of appreciation for the movie. For his ‘baby’ Deepika, Ranveer wrote, ‘It’s moved me, stirred me and stayed with me. You blended strength with vulnerability and lent dignity to an immensely complex portrayal in such a fine manner that I’m simply awestruck at your craft. Its staggering and astonishing what you’ve achieved with Malti. A glowing gem in your repertoire. I love you baby. I’ve never been more proud of you.’

    Chhapaak also stars Vikrant Massey and is now running in theatres.
