Chhapaak: The Name Of The Acid Attacker In Deepika Padukone's Film Is NOT Rajesh

If you are an avid user of social media , especially Twitter, you would be aware that Deepika Padukone is currently THE topic of discussion. The actress went to Jawaharlal Nehru University to support the students' movement against violence by a masked mob of a particular political party inside the campus. The actress stood silently behind the injured JNUSU President, Aishee Ghosh and ex-president Kanhaiya Kumar. Twitter stood divided- some lauded Deepika for her stand while others hated it and also wanted to boycott Chhapaak, which is up for release this Friday. In fact, after #BoycottChhapaak started trending, another rumour brewed.

Chhapaak: The Name Of The Acid Attacker In Deepika Padukone's Film Is NOT Rajesh

The film, which is roughly based on acid survivor Laxmi Agarwal's life, even though it's not her biopic, was accused of showing the name of the perpetrator as Rajesh instead of Nadeem Khan.

This got more fuel when Kangana Ranaut's sister, Rangoli Chandel (who is an acid attack survivor herself) commented on the matter.

However, the news happens to be fake and made up of inadequate facts to garner negative publicity for Chhapaak. Rajesh is not the name of the perpetrator, but the boy Malti, played by Deepika Padukone, was in love with. While there isn't much suspense in the film, yet to not give away spoilers, we can just assure that there has been no community that has been portrayed in a bad light and things have been kept as close to Laxmi's life as possible.

But also it's high time to think if we should rake up storm about issues like what would be the religion of hate/crime.
