A wind of change is blowing in the entertainment world as actors have become more open about their struggles in the industry. The fair skin obsession of the industry that is now being openly shunned has led many actresses to faces biases while being cast and Chitrangda Singh too admits to having lost out on work because of it.

Talking about the discrimination she faced because of her dusky complexion in the early days of her career, Chitrangda recalled in an interview with Bombay Times, “I did lose out on modelling assignments. In fact, when I lost out on one ad in the initial days of my career, I was specifically told the reason as it had come down to selecting between two people for the part.”

“Luckily, the audition that I did for a product was seen by Gulzar saab, who got me on board for his music video. I realised that not everybody goes out looking for white-skinned people here,” she added.

The actress had made headlines a few weeks ago after she posted an anti-discrimination post on social media and wrote, ‘I am brown and happy.’ Her post came after Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter Suhana Khan posted on social media about being called ugly and trolled for her skin color.

On the work front Chitrangda will next be seen in Abhishek Bachchan starrer Bob Biswas.
