Delhi High Court quashes Sushant Singh Rajput's father's plea to restrain films based on the actor's life

Sushant Singh Rajput’s family has been expressing their disdain for the many projects announced based on the actor’s life without their authorization. The late actor’s father KK Singh had filed a petition in the Delhi High Court to get a restraining order against such projects like films Nyay: The Justice, Shashank, Suicide or Murder: A Star Was Lost, based on the Sushant’s life or capturing his likeness.

The petition has now been quashed by the High Court according to ANI. “Delhi High Court dismisses late actor Sushant Singh Rajput's father's petition against the proposed movies being made about the actor's life. Sushant's father had filed the plea restraining anyone from using his son's name or likeness in movies,” tweeted the news agency.

A single bench of Justice Sanjeev Narula heard the petition and passed the order that is bound to displease Sushant’s family.

Mr. KK Singh in his petition sought to restrain filmmakers making these films for violating the actor’s right to privacy. Sushant’s father wanted to prevent the filmmakers from using references to Sushant’s name/caricature/lifestyle or likeness, according to Live Law.

Earlier in the month Sushant’s sister Meetu Singh had expressed her displeasure at seeing people trying to take advantage of the actor’s death and in a tweet clarified, “We would also like to bring this to everyone’s notice that the family has not authorised anyone to raise donations or funds in the name of SSR and no one has the consent to make anything about or related to SSR, be it a movie, a book or a merchandise.”
