Dia Mirza and Vaibhav Rekhi welcome baby boy Avyaan; talk about complications during child birth

Actress Dia Mirza tied the nuptial knot with Mumbai-based businessman Vaibhav Rekhi earlier this year in an intimate ceremony. Their wedding pictures soon took over the internet and filled our hearts with love. Each of the candid snaps featured happy smiles, which left us smiling. A while later the actress announced that they are expecting their first child. Well, today Dia took to her official social media handle to reveal that they have been blessed with a baby boy and have named him Avyaan Azaad Rekhi.

Along with a picture of the baby’s hand in hers, Dia wrote: “To paraphrase Elizabeth Stone, "To have a child is to decide forever to have your heart go walking around outside your body.” These words perfectly exemplify Vaibhav & my feelings right now. Our heartbeat, our son Avyaan Azaad Rekhi was born on May 14th. Having arrived early, our little miracle has since then been cared for by tireless nurses and doctors in the Neonatal ICU.”

Talking about the complications she faced, the actress shared that a sudden appendectomy during the pregnancy and a subsequent and very severe bacterial infection could have led to sepsis and proven to be life threatening. But thankfully timely care and their doctors ensured the safe birth of Avyaan via an emergency C-section. She went on to add, “We do not have enough words to thank all those who continue to help us live this story of hope and faith and create a safe, healing, nurturing space for Avyaan and I. He will be home soon and his elder sister Samaira and grand parents are waiting to hold him in their arms.”
