    Dibakar Banerjee Wants To Make A Sequel To Detective Byomkesh Bakshy: 'It Is Something I Believe Sushant Would Have Wanted'

    Filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee is currently basking in the applause his film Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar has been getting after having recently released on OTT. The filmmaker who has given Bollywood several films to love recently got talking about planning a sequel to his acclaimed film Detective Byomkesh Bakshy which starred late Sushant Singh Rajput in the lead.

    The stories of the fictional character, Byomkesh Bakshi, whose stories have been around for decades, was turned into a Bollywood film by Banerjee who has previously also expressed his desire to turn the film into a franchise. While Sushant was to lead the franchise as the detective, post his demise the plans for the sequel hit a roadblock.

    Talking to BollywoodLIfe about the sequel the filmmaker said he still wanted to make a sequel to the 2015 film. “Making a sequel to Detective Byomkesh Bakshy is something that I have desired. I feel the story can be taken forward into a franchise. Of course, we'd have to cast another actor, but it is something I believe Sushant would have wanted,” he told the portal.

    Detective Byomkesh Bakshy upon release earned a lot of critical acclaim with Sushant’s performance being hailed by all. The film, however, did not see a great response at the box office and failed to draw in audiences to the theatres.
