Did You Know Akshay Kumar's Character In 2.0 Is Inspired By This Real Life Personality?

Akshay Kumar’s role in 2.0 has been a part of major discussions ever since his first look for the film emerged online. The actor is seen essaying the role of a bird man, Pakshi Rajan who has wooed his life to teach people against the use of technology by taking away the entire city’s mobile phones. Rajinikanth, on the other hand, reprised his role as a better robot Chitti from the 2010 super hit Enthiran.

But did you know that the film doesn’t just have a social message behind it but Akshay’s character is based on a real-life personality? That’s right! Akshay Kumar’s character and look in the film has been inspired by Salim Ali who is hailed as the Bird Man in India and is known for breeding rare species of birds in a sanctuary in Goa. Salim Ali has also been an activist to protect endangered bird species who has time and again been demanding government reforms.

Well, we know that Akshay has a nag for bringing to the screen the stories of these special personalities and the fact that a very commercial film like 2.0 is creating awareness for such an important cause makes the film all the more special. The actor had revealed during the movie promotions that though he had never used make in his movies, for 2.0 it took him 6 hours daily to get the makeup done for his character in the movie.

Needless to say that this collaboration of superstars from Tollywood and Bollywood has made fans go crazy and as far as box office numbers are concerned the film has already seen a phenomenal start with 20.25 crores in collections at the box office for its Hindi version on just day one!
