    Dilip Kumar death: Mumbai Police jawans arrive at late actor's residence for state honours

    Hindi cinema lost its ‘tragedy king’ Dilip Kumar on Wednesday and his demise sent the nation into mourning. The star at 98 was one of last surviving actors of the golden era of cinema and was hailed for contribution to cinema along with the introducing the concept of method acting here. Known for films like Naya Daur, Mughal-e-Azam, Devdas among several others will be buried with full state honours in Mumbai today.

    Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray who also arrived to pay his last respect to the legendary actor at his residence, had earlier today granted state honours for Dilip Kumar at his funeral. The actor will be buried at 5 PM today at Juhu Qabrastan at Santacruz Mumbai.

    The preparations for the state honours for Dilip Kumar have now set in motion and the Mumbai Police jawans were seen arriving at his residence for the same. The late actor will be honoured with a 21 gun salute and his mortal remains will be covered in the tricolour flag for the funeral.

    Dilip Kumar’s mortal remains were brought back to his Bandra home from the Hinduja Hospital this morning where several celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Shabana Azmi, Karan Johar, Vidya Balan, Sidharth Roy Kapur and others arrived to be with Saira Banu and pay their last respects.

    Dilip Kumar was admitted to the hospital after he companied of breathlessness a week ago.
