Dostana 2: Karan Johar Personally Requests Akshay Kumar To Replace Kartik Aaryan In The Rom Com?

Kartik Aaryan’s fans were super excited when it was announced that he will be sharing the screen with Janhvi Kapoor and debut actor Lakshya Lalwani in Karan Johar’s Dostana 2. The shooting went on floors in 2019 but the plans got ruined due to the pandemic. A few days ago, in a shocking turn of events, KJo’s Dharma Productions announced that they will be recasting, soon after rumors began doing the rounds about Kartik’s exit from the project. While some stated that the actor walked out because of creative differences, others suggested that he was dropped due to unprofessional behavior.

Well, latest buzz has revealed that Bollywood’s Khiladi Akshay Kumar may join the cast in Kartik’s place on the filmmaker’s personal request in order to try and avoid as much financial loss as possible. In a report shared by Hindustan Times, a source was quoted saying, “Karan Johar has personally requested Akshay to come on board Dostana 2 and help him out, as lots of money has already been invested in the shoot of the film. So, in all likelihood, Akshay will join the cast.”

Directed by Collin D'Cunha, Dostana 2 is a quasi-sequel to Karan Johar’s 2008 hit romantic comedy Dostana, which stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham in the lead. The film followed the story of two men who pretended to be in love in order to get a rent controlled apartment with PeeCee.
