Actor Sushant Singh Rajput bid the world a final adieu on 14th June, leaving his friends, family and fans devastated. A month after his untimely demise, television’s queen Ekta Kapoor joined hands with Zee5 India CEO Tarun Katial to launch the Pavitra Rishta Fund in the actor’s memory, as an attempt to spread awareness about mental health and help those who are suffering. For the uninitiated, Pavitra Rishta was Sushant’s second TV show which helped him rise to prominence. It was produced by Ekta’s production house Balaji Telefilms.

However, Ekta received a lot of backlash from Sushant’s fans for using his face as the logo. Netizens even began trending #ShameOnEktaKapoor on Twitter and accused her of allegedly using the late actor’s death as business. Well Ekta has now decided to dissociate herself from the fund. Sharing the same on social media, she wrote: “I withdraw myself from this fund individually as of now, as it seems that there is more to this tragic incident. Like the rest of the country, I would like the truth to come out.”

Along with this announcement, Ekta clarified that the Pavitra Rishta fund was not started by her, but was indeed started by Zee. She went on to add that she is always with Zee for any other mental awareness fund that they want to do, but she would like to respectfully dissociate herself from this one.
