Ekta Kapoor Trolled For Launching Pavitra Rishta Fund In Memory Of Sushant Singh Rajput; Asked To Return Padma Shri

Before making it big in Bollywood, Sushant Singh Rajput began his journey with Indian television. He made a spectacular debut with romantic drama Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil and went on to leave the audience in awe of his performance and chemistry with Ankita Lokhande in Pavitra Rishta. Well a month after his untimely demise, Ekta Kapoor joined hands with Zee5 India CEO Tarun Katial to set up a Pavitra Rishta fund in the memory of the late actor, as an attempt to spread awareness about mental health among people.

A picture of Sushant’s Pavitra Rishta character Manav Deshmukh was used in the logo of this fund. The thought behind this fund along with the logo did not go down well with the actor’s fans, who accused Ekta of allegedly using his name and death for business and profit. One user even wrote: “How dare you Ekta Kapoor ? The proceeding is on process and people like you declared him mentally unstable! You and your whole gang should check your sanity !! @narendramodi @PMOIndia take back her Padma Shri !!! #SCAssignCBIForSSRCase #ShameOnEktaKapoor.”

#ShameOnEktaKapoor has been trending on social media since quite some time now. As the trolling got intense, the Pavitra Rishta Fund decided to drop Sushant's image from its logo. For the uninitiated, Sushant bid a final adieu to the world on 14th June. Reports suggest that the actor was under depression and was taking medication for the same.
