Exclusive: Actor Vineet Raina Feels TV Shows Need To Stop Dragging Stories, Says Audiences Hooked To OTT For Good Content

Actor Vineet Raina who is seen in Meri Gudiya, a fantasy drama aired on Star Bharat is all geared up for his new web series titled Kasak on Ullu. The series focusses on the real-life incident of a nurse who was raped in a hospital for having reported the smuggling of medicines to the concerned authorities. The web series has been produced by Vibhu Agarwal, CEO Ullu Digital.

Raina in an exclusive conversation with us spoke about how it is not television but the content to be showcased in it requires a sea change! “This is high time that television should change, it needs a drastic change. When television started shelling out content in the very beginning, people had appreciated the content then and they went on to create records. Shows like Fauji, Circus, Saans, there are so many shows which were much ahead of their times. When people say, television has lost its audience, it is absolutely wrong, the lockdown proved them wrong! The audiences were hooked to the old TV shows like never before," he said.

The Maayka actor went on to stress on how OTT is winning over the audience because it is prioritizing great content. “The kind of content television has been producing up until the lockdown had made the audiences averse to watching TV and that was the reason TV shows lost out on their audiences. And the audiences are now hooked on to the OTT platforms because they are replete with good content. It is as simple as that. There are so many shows that have such lovely and realistic stories that is bound to attract the viewers. The audiences are therefore drawn towards web shows."

"The audience is interested in watching only good content. They want to watch the same kind of story-based shows that used to be a norm in the yesteryears as far as television is concerned. The fact that even small budget films are doing a good business in cinema is a clear indication of the fact that now, things need to change!” quipped the actor.
