Exclusive: Actress Sonia Mann Says She Was In Depression After Jabariya Jodi Makers Replaced Her With Parineeti Chopra At The Last Moment

Bollywood is always known to be glitzy and glamorous from the exterior but the insides of it are really murky and filled with all sorts of fabrications that are hidden and the insiders make sure they don’t really come out in the open! The nepotism debate, for instance, is one such case and there are so many others. When Kangana Ranaut spoke uninhibitedly on Koffee With Karan and blamed him on his face for being the “flagbearer of nepotism” it conjured up a storm that just doesn’t cease to exist!

In another startling revelation, Himesh Reshammiya’s new actress Sonia Mann who plays the female lead in his upcoming release Sonia Maan revealed that she had already signed the dotted line for the Siddharth Malhotra starrer Jabariya Jodi as the female lead but she was rejected at the last moment.

Well, it all was during an exclusive conversation with Desimartini.com that Sonia shed light on the thriving nepotism culture in Bollywood without a trace of fear. Quipped she, “I was in depression. I had actually signed a film called Jabariya Jodi. I had also attended the workshop for the film and I literally signed the dotted line for the film but I don’t know what happened. They just… They told me, the corporate house wanted some known face and who knows Sonia Maan in Bollywood.”

The debutante actress says she is grateful to Himesh who brought her in his upcoming film. She gleefully stated, “I am so very thankful to Himesh (Reshammiya) because in reality launching a new girl in Bollywood who doesn’t have a film background is a hugely tough task!”

Taking the names of some really big production houses she stated no one takes a new face and that is easy for newcomers who have a film background to get launched in Bollywood. She continued, “That’s because no one takes the risk. You can go to T-series, or to any other corporate house for that matter. A star kid can easily be launched, but for a new girl, there is a lot of struggle in Bollywood.

“That is why I was in depression when I was offered this film. But then when I had to go audition for the role, I was unsure. I was left broken from within and was not confident whether I would bag the role. For other auditions, I used to be all dolled up and ready but for this one, I was more of a simpleton. I didn’t expect anything, I didn’t even wear make-up. In my mind I was like, if I was destined for the role, I would get it and if the universe has planned otherwise, well, so be it! But I Was determined not to be affected by the results, especially if it was a negative one. But finally, I signed the film. She concluded!
