EXCLUSIVE: Aditya Roy Kapur On His Need To Disconnect From Public Persona: Find It Too Taxing To Be Out There All The Time

It wouldn’t be an exaggeration to call actor Aditya Roy Kapoor a dark horse. Even though he is not always at the fore, he makes sure the quality of the work he does is great! In all his earlier films, he was exceptionally good with all his performances. And now, he is all geared up for his next release titled Malang which has been directed yet again by Mohit Suri.

One look at his career trajectory, and it feels as though he has always wanted to be an actor and face the camera. Add to it the fact of him being from a hugely popular film family! Who would have thought otherwise? Right? Wrong! Well, at the beginning of his film oeuvre, he had clearly stated that he is an “accidental actor”

Today it has been seven years since he started his career on celluloid and we at Desimartini.com were eager to know whether there has been an evolution of sorts in his thought about the industry and Aditya exclusively revealed to us that it was during the initial phase of his career he felt as though he became an actor accidentally. Well, Aditya now feels acting in front of the camera is his true calling. Quipped he, “I was initially an accidental actor but over the course of my first three films, I found that I loved it. That’s when it became my passion and I found that’s what I wanted to continue doing. It has been a good seven years, now that I have very truly and fully called myself a committed actor. I found my calling.”

However, he did admit, he does feel uncomfortable about facing the people all the time. He clearly stated, it is a need for him to disconnect at times. Aditya asserted “Apart from that, yes, I do, in a sense feel the need to disconnect from the public and the public persona, i.e. me the actor.”

He further went on to disclose, this was also the reason behind him joining Instagram so late. He stated, “That is also the reason that it took me the longest time to join Instagram and once I joined it, I was active for a while and then I found that I was detached and posting very rarely. I don’t have many followers with a little above the one million marks. I did it because I wanted a way of connecting with fans and well-wishers but apart from that, I feel that I need to disconnect from the public persona so to speak to be groomed, regenerate and refresh myself. I find it too taxing to be out there all the time.”
