EXCLUSIVE- Asha Negi: "If a newcomer and a TV actor audition together, makers most of the time go for the newcomer"

Asha Negi has made her way in the TV industry and has been successful in her digital shows as well. The actress had made her Bollywood debut last year with Ludo. Often, TV actors had complained that they are judged and biased in the industry because of their background in TV. In an exclusive interview with us, we asked her if she has faced something like that in her decade-old career in the entertainment industry.

Asha Negi said that while she has not faced anything of that sort herself, she does feel that people in the industry are biased towards people from the TV industry. She said, "Yeah it does affect. People have not said that on my face but I think it does affect when this TV image is pretty strong out there. People want to rethink casting you. I think if a newcomer and a TV actor audition together, makers most of the time go for the newcomer. I feel people do judge you even though they would say, ‘no no, there’s nothing like that.’ No one has ever done it on my face, and they do not do it on your face. But, there are actors who have proved their talent in films being from the TV background. So it’s not like people wouldn’t cast an actor from TV background, but yes, this bias is there."

Asha also spoke about her Bollywood debut and the fact that it released online. Talking about how she is feeling post Ludo, she said, "Agar pandemic nahi hota, there would have been a theatrical release for Ludo and things would have been different. But, because of the pandemic, it was digitally released and people watched it at home. When I met people after that, everyone loved the character and everyone loved the film. They were genuinely happy for me and that was a beautiful feeling. Apart from that, I have not thought about how this is going to benefit my career because I want to keep on going with the flow and keep on doing good work. I do not think want to think about the past. Once it is done, I do not think much about it. That was the case with Ludo also."

We are hoping to see her more in Bollywood and hopefully this time, we wish that her next film releases on the big screens.
