EXCLUSIVE: Disha Patani Compares Malang With Fast And The Furious And Avengers

Malang is up for release on the 7th of February ’20 and the lead actors of the film Aditya Roy Kapoor and Disha Patani are on a promotional spree! Well, it was during a chat that we asked Aditya and Disha about whether their film Malang pays heed to   the over-indulgent millennial culture. The film has many scenes that involve drugs and rave parties so on and so forth. So much so that the censor board too wanted them out.

Speaking about Malang and how there is an over usage of violence in the dialogues and the screenplay and also the depiction of rave parties so on and so forth Aditya said because the film is made by someone who isn’t a millennial, he doesn’t think that is the case. “The film (Malang) has been made by directors who don't belong to this generation, that’s why I don’t know if I can cast aspersions on people because these films are not being made by millennials. That’s not them. So, I don’t see it in that sense." Adding to the the answer about the film being influenced, Aditya said, "I think when we are talking about younger people when I was younger, part of being young is discovering yourself and what life is all about. It is about discovering… And with the time you have all these experiences that inform you and bring about depth so to speak. But for the young, it is obvious they will be crazy and have a lot to learn so I don’t expect young people to know it all.”

EXCLUSIVE: Disha Patani Compares Malang With The Fast And The Furious And Avengers

Disha revealed that she experienced a rave party for the first time during the film shoot. Quipped she, “I saw and I felt a rave party for the first time when I was shooting for the film. I had never seen this side of the world and the idea is to show that a world like this exists and a lot of people like to do that. I was very intrigued and I wanted to know and understand that there are hippies, there are people who leave everything, come and live in literally those rave parties. I don’t know about millennials but it is just entertainment. You are supposed to be entertained."

The actress further went on to compare her film with Hollywood’s The Fast and The Furious and Avengers.  “It (Malang) is a commercial film; be it action or romance or thriller but then who uses his or her mind while using a Fast and the Furious? You are going there to be entertained. At the end of the day, you are having a hectic week and in one day I don’t want to go to the theatre and cry. I want to be entertained, I want to forget about my work and I want to see something that intrigues me. I would want to watch something that I believe in, that is something that I believe in. It is like watching Avengers or The Fast and The Furious. It is up to an individual whether he or she finds it shallow or steep.

What do you have to say about this? Do you think alike? Can Indian films be compared with Hollywood’s The Fast and The Furious or The Avengers for that matter? Let us know in the comments section.
