EXCLUSIVE: Due To A Strategy The Channel Is Promoting Shrenu Now; I Too Am The Protagonist Of The Show, Defends Zain

Zain Imam is a pretty jolly fellow with a smile that would make you want to hug him tight. He has had quite a successful career on television and his latest was Star Plus’ Naamkarann, that saw him play the character of Neil Khanna. Imam’s latest outing happens to be Ek Bhram - Sarvgun Sampanna where he would be portraying the character of Kabir Mittal, someone who is immensely positive and who loves his family to death.

It was during the launch of the Star Plus show that Zain spoke to Desimartini, at length about his character. Zain is pretty pepped about his role in the series. He thinks there is a bit of both in it, a tinge of negativity and a whole lot of positivity as well. Quipped he, “I play the character of Kabir Mittal, he belongs to a very affluent background and he loves his family. Kabir has a tussle with his dad played by Ayub Khan. I play Kabir Singh, an army officer who promised his friend (who died saving Kabir), that he would marry the character played by Tanvi. After my character gets married to her, he voluntarily retires and comes back to his house only to find the other members in his family planning to get him married to someone else. The primary reason for the tussle, he has with his dad is this. And then, there is another woman in the household who is ‘Sarvgunn Sampanna’ played by Shrenu Parikh. She plays Kabir's sister-in-law. The TV actor further revealed, “the ‘Bhram’ is the twist in the show. There will be a bit of positivity and negativity. You will get to know the reason behind Shrenu’s negative shades. Kabir loves his ‘Bhabhi’ (Shrenu Parikh) a lot but certain things happen in a way that the family begins to fall apart, but Kabir Mittal tries to stop that from happening.”

EXCLUSIVE: Due To A Strategy The Channel Is Promoting Shrenu Now; I Too Am The Protagonist Of The Show, Defends Zain

Well, it is a fact that the content in Indian television is predominantly female-centric and even in this show, the protagonist (antagonist) is a female. Imam seemed to be pretty defensive on that front. Warding off any conjectures about his role in the show, he went on to say, he is one of the protagonists of the show as well. “I have always been a content-driven actor; I always take up shows which has really good content. It is not about who the protagonist is. I too am the protagonist in the show. As of now, Star Plus has a promotional strategy and is, therefore, promoting Shrenu more, in the promos she is there. I am there in the promos too but for a miniscule screen time. As of now, it is Shrenu’s character that is getting developed, and after that, the track for Tanvi’s character will unfold and in the course of time mine too will happen. That is when the promos will predominantly feature me and then one will get to know, how important my character is for the show."

The sets of a serial look like a different place altogether with people working round the clock, make up being done, the costumes, the HMI lights, the unwieldy-looking camera, no fan, no air conditioner so on and so forth. Therefore, in such a stressful environment, it is almost mandatory to have the fun going to keep the ‘pain’ quotient at bay. Pranks are played, people burst into laughter and the moods are lightened. However, turns out Zain prefers the peace a little too much. He is a ‘Shant’ kind of a guy because he revealed, he doesn’t play any pranks on anyone. “Well, I would like to think, I am the prankster on the sets, not Shrenu. I call her Chutki. You know, I am yet to play a prank on most of them, I want to keep the environment neat and clean and I want a clean aura around me and I ensure to have happy faces.”

The actor who is completely focussed on Sarvgunn Sampanna as of now also disclosed, he doesn’t want to think about any other project neither does he have any future plans, it is “just this one at this point in time.” Well, we understand! It is always great to devote oneself completely in one thing without paying attention to anything else. We hope this one turns out to be a game changer for you, Zain.
