Exclusive: If The Original Song Has Been Used, They Should Buy The Rights First; Says Sameer

The PM Narendra Modi film song credit hullabaloo is making headlines left right and centre. After lyricists Javed Akhtar and Sameer came out with their issues over getting credits off songs which they had not written, the producer of the film let out a statement that two songs that were written by Javed Akhtar and Sameer were a part of the film.

Now, the issue that looms overhead is, whether the original songs have been taken from the films or the songs have been recreated. We got in touch with lyricist Sameer and he said, taking the original song is not possible, “They cannot use the original song at all. If they at all use it, they have to buy the rights for the song.

"I guess in this case, the song has been recreated and if the song has been recreated then they surely can give me the credit for the song, however, that remains unclear. I will get to know about that only when the song comes out. As of now nothing is known. I tried to get in touch with Omung Kumar but then his phone was switched off.”

According to the statement issued by Sandip Ssingh, the producer of the film PM Narendra Modi, the credits have the names of Javed Akhtar and Sameer because the film had “Ishwar Allah” written by Javed Saab and Suno Gaur Se Duniyawalo written by Sameer.

After all of this ruckus, there is still a lot to be known. Are these rehashed songs or have they used the original songs? If they have, have they bought the rights for the songs? Everyone close to the film is tight-lipped as of now. Let us see what time has in store for this fiasco!
