Exclusive- Pranutan Bahl on working with Helmet co-star Aparshakti Khurana: ‘We used to work out on Punjabi songs’

Mohnish Bahl’s gorgeous and talented daughter Pranutan Bahl, who made her debut with Notebook, is all set to return to our screens with her second film Helmet. Directed by Satram Ramani, the social comedy also features the supremely versatile Aparshakti Khurana in the lead along with Abhishek Banerjee and Ashish Verma. The trailer was dropped by the makers sometime back and it left the audience in splits! Aparshakti’s comic timing won hearts whereas his chemistry with Pranutan blew us away. The actress’ dialogue delivery was also spot-on and has been appreciated by netizens. Well, ahead of the film’s release, Desimartini got in touch with Pranutan for an exclusive chat.

Sharing her experience of working with Aparshakti Khurana, Pranutan stated, “Amazing! We’re both Punjabis, we both bond on Punjabi food and Punjabi music. I remember, in Banaras we used to work out on our Punjabi songs. So we used to have a lot of fun, we used to eat so much! Hum itna khaate the. He’s a brilliant person! Actor toh ache hain hi, sabko pata hai, lekin he’s an amazing person. He’s so warm, everyday he used to encourage me, everyday he used to you know.. his belief in me was so much, it was so heartwarming to see that in a co-actor that, you know, when your team, when somebody you’re working with believes in you so much, aapki motivation itni badh jaati hai, you know, so he’s wonderful.”

When asked if anybody was awkward while shooting, because of the unconventional subject, the actress replied, “No, not at all. I mean I’m pretty sure I speak on behalf of everybody, but I never felt awkward about it because I was so invested in what we are trying to say and what the film is really about, that I never felt that any jhijak or any hesitation in saying all that because we knew exactly what we are trying to convey and at the same time we knew what boundaries we had to maintain. The humor, again, is something that you can watch and you should watch with family. Even in the humorous dialogues, we have not crossed that line, you know, which becomes a little like ‘family ke saamne kaise dekhein’. Woh kabhi aapko lagega hi nahi, because it is a family film and it’s a film that you, not only can watch with your family, you should watch with your family because it’s very funny also, it’s very funny and it has an amazing social message, keeping you entertained.”

Helmet, which is a word used for protection here, is all set to premiere on ZEE5 on 3rd September. Are you excited?
