Farah Khan Reveals The Two First Choices For Chhaiya Chhaiya From Dil Se And Its Not Malaika Arora

We love Malaika Arora for a lot of reasons but for a lot of us, our for her started from Chhaiya Chhaiya. The song from Dil Se with Malaika and Shah Rukh Khan is iconic for everyone related to it and none more so than Farah Khan who choreographed the song. Shot atop a moving train it was one heck of a difficult song to shoot and recently Farah talked about the same during interacting at a Film Festival.

Talking about the song, Farah said, “We couldn’t get the permission to shoot at the station, so we managed to shoot it on top of a train. We did it in four days and no one fell.” While none of us can imagine the song without Malaika Arora, Farah revealed that she was not the first choice for the song. She informed, “We had approached Shilpa (Shetty) to Raveena (Tandon), a lot of actors but no one did it. Malaika did the song and became a star after that.”

The ace choreographer turned director also touched upon the subject of remixes in Bollywood and expressed her disapproval about the same. ““I don’t know why they are making them. It’s a call the music company has taken. They say they do very well. Obviously it makes people nostalgic. A retro song, you will always enjoy. A new song takes longer to grow,” she reasoned.
