Sayani Gupta, Bani J, Maanvi Gagroo and Kirti Kulhari won our hearts last year with their spectacular performance in the web series Four More Shots Please! Sassy, unapologetic and gripping, it left us with incredibly high expectations from season 2. As we waited patiently to see the 4 four girls again, most of us came up with different scenarios of what will happen next in their problematic lives. Well, the second season is finally out and the story takes a pretty interesting turn.

The series takes a 4 month leap and brings us face to face with a very different Sidhi Patel (Maanvi) than we remember. She has been backpacking in Europe since the past 2 months, is extremely heartbroken and feels abandoned. During a weak drunk moment, she finally calls Umang (Bani) and rambles on about how she’s on the edge and basically gives us the feeling that she’s lost the will to live. Worried sick, Umang asks Anjana and Damini to meet up and after a 4 month long break from each other, they pack their bags and hesitantly head out to Istanbul in search for the ‘baby of the group’.

While in real life it takes a lot more to fix broken ties, in the show the beauties realize where they went wrong after seeing each other and soon patch up. After coming back home, they continue with their own lives but every now and then meet up for ‘four more shots’! While their personalities have changed quite a lot since season 1, their problems remain more or less the same. Sidhi is still trying to find herself, whereas Damini is stuck between her hot gynaecologist Warsi (Milind Soman) and Truck Bar’s owner Jeh (Prateik Babbar). On the other hand, Umang sacrifices everything she is for the love of her life, Samara Kapoor (Lisa Ray) and Anjana is still trying to figure out if her 30s can be as wild as her 20s were supposed to be. She is also dealing with her ex-husband Varun Khanna (Neil Bhoopalam) who has become extremely moody but keeps you entertained.

Unlike season one, there is more focus on Sidhi’s life this time and her journey of finding and accepting herself is truly inspiring. She is no longer the ‘24 year old virgin’ who’s main agenda in life was to find a good Gujju boy and get married. Also this time, some interesting new characters were introduced who did give their own spin to the show. While Prabal Panjabi shined as Amit Mishra, a stand-up comic who is in love with Sidhi, Sameer Kochhar as Shasank Bose aka Anjana’s boss left us drooling. Well, initially he did, but we won’t get into that because it would result in spoilers! Shibani Dandekar, on the other hand, had a pretty small role but really managed to grasp our attention during her limited screen time.

While the story is gripping and unpredictable, it doesn’t really strike the right chord this time. The stylish outfits and picturesque locations make it a delight for the eyes, especially since we are locked up in our houses thanks to the coronavirus pandemic, and the funny dialogues will tickle you. But it doesn’t really fill your heart with emotion. In fact, there are times when you might think: “Why is she even doing this when there is a perfectly good alternative?” for almost every character. Nevertheless, it’s a fun watch and the cliffhanger will blow your mind, leaving you wanting more. So go for it!
