Gajraj Rao Takes A Dig At Bollywood Remakes After Watching Joji, Tells Makers, "You Need To Do Some Mediocre Work Also"

Gajraj Rao has absolutely loved the recent Malayalam movie Joji which is a fresh take on the famous Shakespearean tragedy Macbeth. The Badhaai Ho actor, however, had a unconventional way of showing his love to this Amazon prime Video offering and the rest the Malayalam film industry.

The actor praised the industry for their unique concepts and original storyline and indirectly dissed Bollywood’s love for remakes. In a note to the makers of Joji, Gajraj wrote, “Dear Dileesh Pothan and other Malayalam filmmakers (especially Fahadh Faasil & Friends), I recently watched 'Joji' and I'm sorry to say this, but I have a bone to pick with all of you. Enough is enough. It is not fair that you are constantly coming up with original ideas and executing them with utmost sincerity, making actually good cinema. You need to learn a thing or two from other regional cinema, and especially us here in Hindi. You need to do some mediocre work also. Where are the tiring marketing campaigns and promotions? Where are the soulless remakes? Where is the obsession with weekend box office collections? This is too much.”

Calling himself the self proclaimed Chairman of the Fahadh Faasil fan club (Northern region) the actor added, “I hope you will not take any of this seriously, and continue the good work you are doing. In a non-pandemic world, I'll always be ready with the popcorn for your films, first day first show.”

Joji which is a story set in the Covid-19 pandemic era released on Amazon Prime Video on April 7 and has been garnering praises from all corners.

Fahadh Faasil who is being hailed for his performance in the film called it his toughest role, “I took a long time to crack Joji as a character, it’s definitely my toughest role till date. Tougher than my last film with Dileesh.”

“In fact, even Dileesh said that this was the toughest film he has shot,” he had added.
