Ganesh Hegde Reveals, Sushmita Sen Refused To Lip Sync Mehboob Mere Because Of Suggestive Lyrics

Mehboob Mere was an all time superhit song that had Sushmita Sen dancing to the tunes of it. The actress vowed viewers recently with her appearance on Disney+Hotstar’s Aarya. The ex-Miss Universe who has been an inspiration to many keeps sharing her life with fans and followers through her videos on social media.

Miss Sen has been this towering figure when it comes to feminism and strength. And now, there is yet another instance that proves, Sushmita always managed to take a stand against what she thought was not right.

It was during an interview with HuffPost that Ganesh Hegde revealed that it was because of one particular line in the song, ‘Mehboob Mere’ she refused to lip-sync it. The choreographer has been quoted as saying, "There was a line that went ‘aa garmi le mere seene se (come feel the heat of my bosom)’ and she refused to sing it. She said, ‘I won’t just do it.’ Composer Anu Malik had to change the lines to ‘aa narmi le mere aankhon se (bask in the softness of my eyes)." He added, "It was unheard of at that point of time, to command and extract that kind of respect."
