Gangubai Kathiawadi: Ajay Devgn To Star Alongside Alia Bhatt In Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Next?

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is right now on a film announcement spree. After his project with Salman Khan, Inshallah, got shelved, the Padmaavat director announced two films back to back. While we know that Alia Bhatt will be working with Sanjay for Gangubai Kathiawadi, which is an adaptation of Hussain Zaidi’s Gagubai Kothewali, the rest of the cast is yet unknown.

It was said that Ranveer Singh was approached for the project, but he could not give his nod, which miffed Alia Bhatt as well. But now we get to hear that Ajay Devgn might come on-board for the film.

According to a report, Ajay Devgn and Sanjay Leela Bhansali had met in a Diwali party, after which the latter invited him to his office. The two met and the discussion went on for a few hours, fuelling speculations that the two would collaborate! It is also being said that Bhansali had offered both Gangubai Kathiawadi and Baiju Bawra to the actor, however Ajay zeroed in on Gangubai as he liked the role better. He might be seen playing the mobster who would mentor Gangubai and later fall in love with her. The official announcement is yet to be made.

Gangubai Kathiawadi would be the story of a sex worker and brothel owner who becomes Mumbai’s one of the most feared women and a fierce don. The film will release on September 11, 2020.
