Gangubai Kathiawadi: Alia Bhatt And Sanjay Leela Bhansali To Resume Shooting Soon; Ajay Devgn Will Join Later

A few weeks back, Alia Bhatt left fans in awe with the spectacular teaser of her upcoming film Gangubai Kathiawadi. It was released on director Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s birthday and later in the evening before his bash began, Alia posed with him for the paparazzi as Gangu. Only a little bit of the filming was left and the period drama was all set to hit theatres on 30th July. But a week ago, reports revealed that the shoot has come to an abrupt halt as the filmmaker tested positive for COVID-19.

Alia’s tests were negative but the actress also went under quarantine for a while as a precautionary measure. Well, latest buzz is that the shoot of the much awaited film will now resume by March end. In a report shared by Pinkvilla, a source revealed, “If all goes as planned, then Mr Bhansali and Alia are targeting to resume shooting for Gangubai Kathiawadi by this month-end. The remaining portions with Ajay Devgn will be shot later once fresh dates are allotted by the actor.”

Well, that’s great news! Around the same time that the news about Bhansali started doing the rounds last week, veteran actress Neetu Kapoor had revealed that her son Ranbir Kapoor had tested positive for COVID-19. As Alia spent most of her time with Bhansali on Gangubai Kathiawadi sets and with Ranbir on Brahmāstra sets, fans were quite worried about her testing positive too. But we are glad things are better now and Ranbir is also reportedly recovering well.
