Gangubai Kathiawadi: Alia Bhatt Starrer To Resume Shoot From July; To Be Wrapped Up By August End

It had earlier been reported that once the lockdown is lifted, Gangubai Kathiawadi would be the first to resume the shoot. Well, shoots have started once again and Sanjay Gupta's Mumbai Saga has shifted base to Hyderabad's Ramoji Film City for added security in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak. Gangubai Kathiawaadi would be shot in Mumbai's Film City and therefore, the film would go on floors once again only in the latter half of next month.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, one can expect a larger-than-life kind of set in the film. Well, there indeed is one and it had been constructed back in March. However, after the nationwide lockdown, it has been lying unused. Sources had said that it might be demolished, but that never happened. Now, speaking to Mid Day, a source has informed, "Thirty percent of the film's shoot remains. A part of the film's set is standing in Film City and will probably be the only venue for the remaining shoot. With work in the post-COVID world moving slowly, the team is looking for a month-long schedule to wrap up the project by August end."

Gangubai Kathiawadi is a story based on a real-life character. Alia Bhatt will play the titular role. It has also been said that Emraan Hashmi and Ajay Devgn will be a part of the film. Gangubai was slated for a September release, which would now be delayed due to the lockdown.
