Gangubai Kathiawadi: Alia Bhatt to resume shooting this month with a dance sequence; Deets inside

When it was reported that Bollywood’s beloved Alia Bhatt is joining hands with ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, fans were super excited to see how the project turns out. In February this year when the teaser and first look of Gangubai Kathiawadi were finally unveiled, we knew we were in for a treat! However, the shoot came to an abrupt halt when Bhansali tested positive for coronavirus. After he recovered, Alia contracted COVID-19 and then later a janta curfew was announced due to the second wave of coronavirus. Well, the team will finally resume shoot this month.

A report shared by Mid Day has revealed that Bhansali will pick up where he left off-- a dance number. A source explained, “Alia was filming a song when the shoot ground to a halt earlier this year. Sanjay sir wants to pick it up from where he left off. So, the background dancers will begin their rehearsal next week, with Alia and the director recommencing the shoot post June 15.” This track will be shot at Film City, Goregaon and the filmmaker will need 15 background dancers who are vaccinated.

The source further shared that of the 900 dancers in the dancers’ association, about 300 have been inoculated so far and the remaining will get vaccinated in the course of next week. Well, after the track is shot, Gangubai Kathiawadi will finally be wrapped. The film was scheduled to hit theatres on 30^th July. Let’s hope the team can meet the decided date!
