Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi  starring Alia Bhatt is definitely one of the most awaited projects in Bollywood right now. The film is currently in its pre-production phase and Bhansali is looking for a good dialect coach for Alia Bhatt who will have to master the Kathiawadi dialect of Gujarat for the film as Gangubai was originally from that area.

However, whether it is providence or mere co-incidence, but it is indeed fascinating that Alia would actually be learning the dialect of her forefather for the film. Most people do not know that Alia’s grandfather, Nanabhai Bhatt was a Gujarati Brahmin who hailed from the region of Kathiawad. Mentioned in journalist Hussain Zaidi’s book ‘Mafia Queens Of Mumbai’, the story of Gangubai is a fascinating one. Sold into the flesh trade at a very early age, she rose to great prominence and had every noted Mumbai gangster as her client which gave her a lot of power in the underworld of Mumbai.
