Gangubai Kathiawadi: With Only A Day Of Shooting Left, Alia’s COVID Result Becomes A Financial Setback

Gangubai Kathiawadi is undoubtedly one of the most awaited releases of the year. Helmed by ace filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the biographical crime drama features Alia Bhatt in the titular role with special cameos by Ajay Devgn and Emraan Hashmi. While the makers are set to release the film on the decided date, which is 30th July, something or the other keeps coming up as a hurdle. This has left fans worrying if they will get to see Alia on the big screen on the given date or not.

First the director tested positive for COVID-19 and when he recovered and was ready to shoot, Alia announced that she has contracted the virus. What’s crazy is that only a day of shoot is left, but the makers are unable to complete the project because of these unpredictable circumstances. In a report shared by Spotboye, a source revealed, “This is a huge financial and emotional setback for the project. Sanjay was somehow shooting through the contagion following all the guidelines strictly when he was tested positive for Covid.”

The source continued to share, “After his quarantine period he immediately got back to shooting. They were about to wrap up when Alia was also tested positive. There was one more day of shooting left. Now this (Alia’s confinement) means he will have to re-assemble the entire 160-member cast and crew for one more day.”

Well, we wish Alia a speedy recovery and hope to see Gangubai Kathiawadi in theatres on 30th July. Fingers crossed!
