    The film was also supposed to be Deepika Padukone’s debut in Bollywood even before her other Farah Khan film Om Shanti Om happened in 2007. The script of Happy New Year was ready much before Om Shanti Om was even conceived. Well, director Farah Khan had to put off Happy New Year till she finally revisited the film in 2014 and made it. Incidentally, both HNY and Om Shanti Om were big box office hits.

    Also starring Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani, and Naseerudin Shah’s son Vivan Shah, the film hit the theatres back in 2014. The film grossed Rs. 203 crores at the box office but very few people might recall how the HNY cast had promoted the film before its release going on a SLAM Tour together. The cast toured several cities in the U.S. performing and entertaining audiences and with the tour alone the film earned Rs. 200 crores even before it hit the theatres.

    That’s not all, the film earned another Rs. 200 crores from the sale of satellite light, music rights! So that was 400 crores for the film even before it made it to the theatres! The film earned Rs. 45 crores in advance booking collection which was the highest for any film then!

    Well, it’s been five year since and we can’t wait for Farah Khan to finally make the big reveal about her next project, Satte Pe Satta remake which will be starring Hrithik Roshan and Anushka Sharma.
