Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor Shares What's The Holdup On Abhinav Bindra Biopic, Says Shoot Should 'Definitely' Begin By Year End

Harsh Varrdhan Kapoor starrer Abhinav Bindra biopic has gained almost a mythical status 4 years after it was announced. The film based on the life of Olympic gold winning sport shooter which has often been assumed to be shelved has only been kept alive by the promises made time and again by Anil Kapoor and Harsh Varrdhan who assure that the film is definitely happening.

Abhinav Bindra biopic was Harsh Varrdhan’s second film to be announced in Bollywood after his 2016 debut in Rakesh Omprakash Mehra’s Mirzya. The actor has now opened up about what’s taking the project so long. Talking about the status of production he informs Time On India, “The shooting hasn't started yet, it will begin this November or December in Chandigarh. Basically the reason why it has taken so long is because we have a new writer and director now. Simon, who wrote ‘Neerja’ is writing this biopic now. Normally, when a script takes time, people start wondering what's happening to the film, but it's a big responsibility.”

He added, “You're making a film about somebody who is alive and young and such a phenomenal athlete. He's the only person to have won Olympic gold individually ever as an Indian. So, it's a huge responsibility and you want to take your time to make the best possible film. You want to make sure that you're committing to a certain direction within the story. The shoot should definitely begin from the end of the year.”

The film which was earlier being helmed by Kannan Iyer has been taken over by filmmaker Heeraz Marfatia. In February 202, Anil Kapoor had shared and upate and hinted that film is finally ready to go on floors but was ultimately put on the back burner again due to Covid-19 much like many other projects.
