Has Akshay Kumar Refused To Play Suheldev In Adaptation Of Amish Tripathi's Novel?

A few weeks back, reports had been doing the rounds that Akshay Kumar has been approached to play King Suheldev in a film that would be adapted from Amish Tripathi's novel. Fans had been overjoyed with the report since it would mean getting to watch more Akshay Kumar films. However, we have a bad news now.

If the latest report in Bollywood Hungama is to be believed, then Akshay Kumar has not been able to sign the film. The primary issue seems to be with dates. A source said, “Ashwin (Varde, producer) flew down to Delhi in the first week of December to meet Akshay Kumar and had a detailed talk about his plans to make this film on a humongous scale. However, eventually, the actor felt that the script needed a lot of rework. After having discussions with Ashwin, he decided to take a backseat from the film as he was not on the same page with the stakeholders creatively. Apart from that, even dates were an issue as Akshay is blocked for the next 2 years and Ashwin and co were looking to start the film sometime next year, demanding over 70 days from Akshay. It was almost impossible for Akshay to accommodate the film in his jam-packed schedule.”

The same report also states that Ajay Devgn was the first to have been approached for the film, but he too gave it a miss. The script was being reworked to accommodate senior actors, but now they are going back to the original script and looking for next gen star. We just hope the film gets made soon.
