Haseen Dillruba: Vikrant Massey explains why he relates to his character Rishu in the Taapsee Pannu starrer

Vikrant Massey is undoubtedly one of the most terrific actors that the Indian cinema has seen in the past many years. Watching him achieve the recognition and roles that he deserves is truly a delight for the audience. Well, currently the actor is soaring high on the success of his recent release Haseen Dillruba. Co-starring Taapsee Pannu and Harshvardhan Rane, the film follows the story of a simple man named Rishu who falls in love with Rani, a feisty girl. They get married but his idea of love comes crashing down when she cheats on him with his cousin.

Rishu then turns into a wonderfully written and beautifully portrayed grey character who eventually becomes the star of the show. Well, in an interview with Mid Day, Vikrant was quoted saying, “In a lot of ways, I relate to the character. I am a simple guy like Rishu, but I have never been pushed against the wall the way he was. I don’t know how I would react if I am cheated on. Luckily, I haven’t faced it.” The actor shared that he enjoyed how his character took a dark turn in the romantic thriller.

Vikrant explained, “He reacts the way that anyone could — you can call it male ego, hurt or anger. The beauty of this role is that it has layer after layer, like an onion, and he is motivated by true love.” The actor went on to add that he did not dwell too much on the morality of the character or assess his actions. “It was a work of fiction, and we went all out to bring these parts to life.”
