HTLS 2020: Priyanka Chopra's Mother Felt She Might Not Have A Career Post 30, Calls It A Reason Behind Starting Production House

It has been a year since Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas have tied the knot. The duo is one power-couple that not just us, but people all over the world. Priyanka has rules Bollywood, is taking over Hollywood as well. And besides being an actress, she has also ventured into production. But did you know that it was after her mother had told her at the ‘ripe age of 30’ that her career might be over?

Yes, you read that right. In her interaction during the Hindustan Times Leadership Summit 2020, Priyanka revealed that one of the reasons she had ventured into producing was because her mother reminded her that her career might be over post 30. She said, “My mother told me at the ripe old age of 30 that I might not have a career soon. I was like ‘You’re right’.”

Well, given Priyanka had ventured into and is working in powerful roles in her 30 something both in Bollywood and in Hollywood says a lot about her grit and passion. Elaborating on why her production house, Purple Pebble Pictures has backed up regional films as well, Priyanka said, “I have always been very instinctive about my choices, whether it’s as an actor or a producer or any opportunity I align myself with. The reason why I started Purple Pebble Pictures was when I joined the film industry and that was for both in America and in India, (I found) there’s always opportunity for the big guns. It takes a really long time for talent, whether that’s in writing or direction, to be able to get through the doors and my company was all about giving opportunities to smaller, more quaint stories. That’s how the regional cinema thing started. There weren’t a lot of Hindi movie producers to back regional cinema. I grew up all over India, so it was like a dream of mine.”
