Huma Qureshi On Not Doing 4 Films A Year: Why Do I Need To Work More? What Do I Have To Prove?

Huma Qureshi is all set to go full desi after the release of her Hollywood venture Army Of The Dead recently. The actress will be taking center stage in Subhash Kapoor’s political drama Maharani which is set in Bihar where she becomes the unexpected Chief Minister after her husband who holds the position falls ill.

Despite Huma’s busy calendar this year, the actress believes in taking her own time selecting projects she wants to work on and doesn’t like to compete for attention.

Talking about narrowing down projects Huma while talking to News 18 said, “I think actors are a bit neurotic and they like to put themselves in uncomfortable zones. What happens in our industry is that the people want to see you in roles similar to what they liked you in. So, I remain very careful that there could be a gap between my projects but I shouldn’t repeat myself.”

The Gangs of Wasseypur actress is out to explore cinema and talking about it she added, “I never aspired to be a part of the rat race because you’ll remain a rat even if you win. Why do I need to work more? What do I have to prove? Where do I need to go? By the time my career ends, people should take a look at my filmography and say that I have done different roles. What’s the point of doing four films in a year where I can’t even change my hairstyle because continuity will be compromised?”

Huma was last seen in the web series Leila on Netflix in 2019. Her last appearance in a movie before Army Of The Dead released worldwide was in Rajinikanth’s Kaala in 2018. Apart from Maharani and the Zack Snyder film, Huma will also touch base with Bollywood later in the year with Bell Bottom’s release.
