Hungama 2: Shilpa Shetty reveals how she reacted when approached for the role of Paresh Rawal’s wife

The gorgeous Shilpa Shetty, who is undoubtedly one of the most popular and adored actresses of the Hindi film industry, is all set to make her comeback after 14 long years with Hungama 2. Co-starring Paresh Rawal, Meezaan Jaffrey and Pranitha Subhash, the romantic comedy has been helmed by Priyadarshan, who is returning to films after 8 years. Shilpa and Paresh are playing a married couple on-screen and the latter is convinced that his wife is having an affair with Meezaan.

In a recent interview with Mid Day, the actress revealed how she reacted when she was offered the role of Paresh’s on-screen wife. Shilpa had said, “How can I be paired opposite Pareshji [Rawal]? He has played my father in a movie!” Talking about the story-line, the beauty stated, “The story revolves around a man who is insecure about his wife who is 15-20 years younger than him. When I heard the story, it made sense [to portray Rawal's wife]. Then, I was told they were planning to reprise Chura ke dil mera [her song from Main Khiladi Tu Anari]. After that, I couldn't say no.”

Shilpa feels that the audience will be open to this unique, fresh concept because gone are the days when only conventional content worked. She is also glad that she is making her comeback when Hindi cinema is undergoing a radical change. The actress explained, “I got good parts in Dhadkan and Life in a Metro, but today, I am offered roles where I can do more than just being glam.”

Hungama 2 will premiere on Disney+Hotstar on 23^rd July.
