Hungama 2 star Meezaan Jafri signs a thriller with Priyadarshan; film to go on floors this month

After making his Bollywood debut with romantic drama Malaal in 2019, Meezaan Jafri joined hands with filmmaker Priyadarshan for his next. Their comedy Hungama 2 became one of the most awaited films of the year as it was the filmmaker’s first Hindi film in 8 years and also marked Shilpa Shetty’s comeback to films after 14 long years. While the comedy did not do as well as the audience had expected, one good thing did come out of the project-- Meezaan signed another film with Priyadarshan.

According to a report shared by Bollywood Hungama, Meezaan and Priyadarshan’s second collaboration will be a thriller. A source was quoted saying, “Meezaan has been signed on as one of the leads in Priyan's next movie which is a taut thriller. Unlike Hungama 2, this won't have comedy but an underlying suspense. There were recent reports that he is beginning the film in August and this is the project that was being talked about. Meezaan had signed the film, while he was wrapping up Hungama 2.”

The report further stated that the cast is not locked yet, but another actor will soon be signed along with Meezaan. The film is a cop thriller and a murder mystery. The source went on to add that this will be a ‘quick film’ and as soon as it completes, the filmmaker will take his comedy with Akshay Kumar on floors.
