I Want To Play A Woman In My Next; Says Pankaj Tripathi

I Want To Play A Woman In My Next; Says Pankaj Tripathi

Pankaj Tripathi is a phenomenal actor, he made sure to inject life in his roles, no matter how trivial or serious they are. The thespian believes, his roles are a mirror of his real encounters with life and its many shades. Quips he, “My experiences are profound. I have sold shoes, I have become a minister and I have also been to jail. I was a minister so I had been to jail. I wasn’t convicted of any crime. I have stayed for at least one night on the banks of every river in India. The diversity that is there in our country i.e. every 50 miles, there is a different dialect, a different food speciality, different ways of dressing up so on and so forth – I have lived that diversity. Therefore, I would say that it is a gift to me from the country and the people I lived with and my characters and the way I portray them is almost a reflection of all that.

He also firmly believes that a sea change has taken place in the film industry. “I started off with theatre but nowadays my stage outings have become very less. There is a huge difference from where I started. Nowadays the films have lost their lustre. We work in films but we don’t have that glamour in us. Talking about the other performances in the Amazon Prime series’ Mirzapur, Tripathi aka Kaleen Bhaiya said, “Filmmaking is a collective art, the other performers also did a swell job. It is no one’s intention to show the other down. We all have to work together so that it shows on the screen.

It is also pretty evident, Tripathi is always extremely thrilled and elated to play his part no matter what they are without paying any attention to the audience reception of it. He says, “The first experience is that of the actor, how will the audience like it is not there when one is performing. The actor first feels good.”

Mirzapur tells the story of guns and rivalry in the Indian hinterland. All the characters are viscious, all the characters have a strong point, which is why Pankaj feels that every actor in the series Mirzapur is a lead character and that his Kaleen Bhaiya just has an intimidating façade. Quips he, “It is all because of the tremendous build-up of the character of Kaleen bhaiya, that people are feeling that I am the lead of the series, however that is not the case. When the series gradually unfolds, Kaleen Bhaiya has already gone PHUSSSS (his character has died down).

There are diverse characters that Pankaj has portrayed onscreen, however he is not quite satisfied and what he wants to do next is out of the world if not borderline bizarre. Reveals he, “I have done quite a few roles but somehow the actor is me isn’t yet satisfied. I think the next role that I want to do is of a STREE (a woman) who knows, in the next part of the film Stree, I might be playing the titular role.

Well, we don’t quite know what he is hinting at but if that surely is the case and he indeed shows up on the big screen saree-clad, it will surely be a laughter riot to watch him. What do ya say people?!

Whatever be the case we wish Pankaj Tripathi all the very best for his future endeavours. For more such Bollywood updates keep a close tab on Desimartini.com
