IAS Officer Mocks Twinkle Khanna's Crowdfunding Efforts For Covid Relief Despite Family's Affluence, Read Her Humble Response

Author and former actress Twinkle Khanna was called out on Twitter by an IAS officer for crowd sourcing finances to get more oxygen concentrators for India in association with two NGOs. The officer told Twinkle that instead crowd funding ‘drama’ she should open up her heart a bit and donate.

The comment no doubt was one that caught Twinkle’s eye. Having been actively supporting relief efforts as the nation battles the deadly second wave of the pandemic, the author did respond to the user and said that instead of putting in efforts to combat the virus people were wasting their energies in pulling people down.

The IAS officer in his tweet in Hindi wrote: “Twinkle Ji, your husband is one of the most affluent artists in the country. Instead of pretending to help with the crowdfunding drama it would be better if you and your family could just open up your hearts a little. This is not the time to seek help but it is the time to help out.”

In her reply, Twinkle who not many days ago posted on social media about donating oxygen concentrators for Covid-19 relief said: “Have donated 100 concentrators toward this cause & in multiple other ways. As I’ve said before, it’s not about me or you but what we can do collectively for those in need. Sad that at this point, instead of pitching in, we expend energy in pulling people down. Stay safe.”

Last yea,r Akshay Kumar donated Rs. 25 crores to the PM Cares Fund at the very onset of the pandemic. Later, Akshay and Twinkle also chipped in to support many on ground relief efforts and continue to do so.
