Irrfan Khan, Bhanu Athiya Feature In 93rd Academy Awards' In Memorium Video; Rishi Kapoor, Sushant Singh Rajput Also Remembered

2020 had been one of the most terrible years in recent times. The pandemic turned our worlds upside down and then, many people left us that year. It included some of the iconic personalities of Indian Film Industry as well like Soumitra Chatterjee, Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor. Today, at the 93rd Academy Award, these film personalities were remembered and paid tribute.

The Academy released a video, and also paid tribute to other film personalities who we lost in 2020-21. In the video, besides Sean Conner and Chadwick Boseman, actor Irrfan Khan and costume designer Bhanu Athaiya, who had won the Oscar in 1983 for Gandhi, were featured. See the video here:

Other film personalities like Sushant Singh Rajput, Rishi Kapoor, Soumitra Chatterjee and Shashikala were also remembered.

Well, that's a gesture that we are sure the nation would love. The 93rd Academy Award was live telecasted this year, without any crowd and any host. It also marked a milestone by awarding talents like Chloé Zhao for directing Nomadland, which swept the most number of awards and Youn Yuh-jung. While the former is the first woman of colour and second woman director to win an Oscar, the latter is the first Korean to bag the award.
