Bollywood lost one of its brightest talents as Irrfan Khan died in Mumbai this morning succumbing to a colon infection for which he was in the ICU of the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai. The 54 year old Irrfan only grew to be a more brilliant actor with every film but not matter his success the actor always maintained to be humble and face all good and bad with humility.

It was during an interview of one of his last few films before his cancer diagnosis, Quarib Quarib Single, Rajeev Masand had asked Irrfan Khan about his future plans and goals. The actor has said something that today after his passing puts his life mantra in some perspective.

The actor had said that he doesn’t believe in making plans for the future because everytime he does, he fails. “I used to have [goals] and it never worked. My planning never ever worked. So you know for me it is more of a spontaneous reaction to things and go with the flow. Life always deliberately gave me signals that don’t plan, I will see that your plans don’t materialize. I learnt that lesson very early and life constantly nudged me, don’t… don’t… don’t fix things and I am thankful that I was aware to take those signals. If I plan for the next two months I start feeling suffocated,” the actor had said back in 2017.

It hurts to think that he certainly had no idea that a deadly disease awaits him in the future and it was probably for the best he stowed his plans away. Irrfan was diagnosed with Neuro Endocrine Tumour in March 2018 for which he underwent treatment in London putting all future projects on hold.

Announcing his diagnosis Irrfan had tweeted -

“Life is under no obligation to give us what we expect”.- Margaret Mitchell

The unexpected makes us grow, which is what the past few days have been about. Learning that I have been diagnosed with NeuroEndocrine Tumour as of now has admittedly been difficult, but the love and strength of those around me and that I found within me has brought me to a place of hope. The journey of this is taking me out of the country, and I request everyone to continue sending their wishes. As for the rumours that were floated NEURO is not always about the brain and googling is the easiest way to do research ;-) To those who waited for my words, I hope to be back with more stories to tell.

The actor returned to the big screen with Angrezi Medium this year which also became his last movie.
