Irrfan Khan’s Last Rites Takes Place At Versova Cemetary, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Vishal Bharadwaj Amongst Attendees

Irrfan Khan died on 29 April ’20. The actor was 53 years old. Khan was suffering from colon cancer. It was since a year that the actor was undergoing treatment for his medical condition after some recovery, he returned to India to complete his film Angrezi Medium. The film released but its run was cut short because of the COVID 19 pandemic and its life in the theatres didn’t last long which is why the film had to be released on the OTT platform. Last week he was shifted to the Kokilaben Hospital following a colon infection and was moved to the ICU on 28 April.

Irrfan’s mother Saeeda Begum breathed her last only three days ago, it was said that his condition deteriorated after her demise and this morning he breathed his last.

His funeral took place at the Versova cemetary as some shutterbugs have gathered around his mortal remains as they click him for one last time before his last rites are performed. According to media reports only 20 family members were allowed inside the cemetery. The last rites began at 3 pm today.

Director Tigmanshu Dhulia, Vishal Bharadwaj attended the funeral.

According to the official statement by his spokesperson,  “Irrfan was buried at the Versova Kabrastan in Mumbai at 3 pm this afternoon soon after the news of his passing away was announced. In presence were his family, close relatives and friends. Everyone paid their final respects and mourned the loss of his passing away. We pray for his peace and we hope he’s in a better place today. He was strong in his fight, and we all have to be strong too in this loss.”

The actor has been survived by his wife and two sons Babil and Ayan.  We pray that his family gets the strength to cope up with this immense loss. May his soul rest in peace.
