Jab We Met Director Imtiaz Ali Reveals Why A Sequel Of The Kareena And Shahid Starrer Should Not Be Made

Jab We Met is undoubtedly one of the greatest and most unique films ever made in Hindi cinema. It not only won our hearts but also turned out to be one of the best performances till date by lead actors Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan. Filmmaker Imtiaz Ali successfully made us fall in love with Geet and Aditya, left us feeling slightly bad for Anshuman for like a second and taught us how important it is to be ‘apni favorite’. Well, the film completed 13 years on 26th October.

In a chat with ETimes, the filmmaker was asked if he has ever thought of making a sequel or a spinoff of his masterpiece. To this Imtiaz replied, “I feel that a sequel of ‘Jab We Met’ should not be made because really I have nothing to say in that story anymore. Maybe in some other way or other characters can feature in something that has to do with ‘Jab We Met’. But I feel Geet and Aditya, I would hate to create more conflict in their lives (smiles).”

He went on to add, “I would just want to leave them in a space in our imaginations which is an interesting space where they are together and yet they are exactly who they personally and individually are and yes, with their twin daughters as we see in the last frame of ‘Jab We Met’.” Well, maybe it’s best to remember Geet and Aditya like that, don’t you think?
